These are just too funny to not post

Tim's finally got that dog under control.

Rest and recovery

I pretty much took last week off except for the rowing of course. I didn't take a week off on purpose, I just didn't get around to it, didn't feel like it, and had other stuff on my mind. Turns out it was probably a good idea to take the week off. My workouts have been great this week. My body is thanking me for giving it time to fully heal.

Karen is going on vacation soon and she was talking yesterday about her concerns about not being able to get her workouts in while she is on vacation. Anyone who knows Karen knows that she has worked out consistently 5 days a week since August. It is time for Karen to take a week off and enjoy her vacation!! Her body will thank her and it will show in her workouts when she gets back!
Karen! If you need both Tim and Luke after a workout...it's time for a vacation!

Here's an article on Overhead Squats that will get you fired up to do more of them!

NY-NJ Sectionals

Numbers and I went down to New Jersey over the weekend to help out with the Sectionals for the CrossFit Games. JP and Jessica Hayden (CrossFit 585) represented Western NY very well by qualifying to go to the Regional Qualifiers in Albany in May!
It was good to spend some time with new and old friends.

Closed this afternoon and tomorrow

I will be out of town, and unfortunately you can't hit JP up for a workout this time because he will be out of town as well.

See you all on Monday!

This is deeply personal and not fitness related so disregard if you're here for fitness info

I can take physical pain....bring it on! My back hurts 24/7...no big deal. I've had surgeries, injuries....I almost look forward to conquering the pain. But........

Emotional pain is not my domain....losing someone I love, relationships not being intact, sad situations, bad feelings....I'm not so good at that. Total freaking wimp I am. This has been a tough week. I love Dede and almost losing her has been very hard. Thank God her situation is looking hopeful!

I just want to thank everyone who was here, who offered words of encouragement, and was strong when I couldn't be. Paul and Jessica, who had the presence of mind to run out to the end of the driveway to make sure the ambulance knew where to pull in.....Sandy and Eric and Ariel for getting barbells and cars out of the way, Vicki and Andrew for saving Dede's life, for everyone who knew what their job was at the time without being asked. For everyone who has spent time in prayer, who has called, sent e-mails and offered their support!

When I started this whole training people thing I never expected how much I would become emotionally invested in the people who come here. It is challenging my weaknesses and I just want to say....keep training me hard friends! I need it and whether or not I intended to I have formed an emotional bond with all of you.

Dede

Dede's family has set up a website for updates.

Dede update

Vicky was in this morning and said that Dede made it through the night, but is still not awake. She is still in very critical condition. She has a very long way to go, but so far, so good. I will keep you updated as soon as I get any new information.

Please consider making a donation to the Geneseo Ambulance. They responded so quickly and provided such good care to Dede. They are a fantastic group of skilled and dedicated people who deserve our support.

I really don't have words

Our friend and dynamo crossfitter Dede collapsed at the workout today. Thanks to the quick thinking and action of everyone in class this morning and the wonderful emergency responders in Geneseo, she survived. She is still in very serious condition, but made it through surgery to repair a torn aorta.
Keep Dede and her husband Bill in your thoughts and prayers and I will update you as soon as I can in the morning.

More Deadlift PR's this morning!

Vicky (270#) and Katie (240#) set significant PR's! Paul's first ever attempt at a one rep max yielded a respectable 315#, Eric pulled 370#. Sandy and Andrew also PR'd the lift!!

Playing with the new KB's this afternoon!
Casey and I had a conversation this afternoon about diet. It really isn't rocket science folks! We all know what we are supposed to eat, and we all know that we probably eat a little too much. Eat quality food in reasonable amounts, always eat breakfast and don't obsess about it. Food is fuel. You wouldn't put crappy gas in your car! Why would you put it in your body? You always make sure your car has enough fuel....make sure your body does. You don't try to put more fuel in your gas tank than you need because it will just spill all over the ground and waste money.
Beware of any diet that asks you to completely eliminate an entire food group. Humans are omnivores! Rant over......for now.

The downside of this beautiful weather....Tim's enjoying the heat while I have to vacuum flies 18 times a day!!

Kudos to Sandy for showing up a few days before she leaves for China!! In case you didn't know...Sandy and her husband Dave are adopting 2 boys in China this week! She will be gone for a while and when she gets home she will have gone from 2 children at home to 4 children at home. Can't wait to have Bing and FengHong stop by the barn!!
