What's the best workout for you?
"I know!" "I know!" "Pick me!!"
Why is CrossFit (or my version of it anyway) the best program for the members here?
If barbells are scary to you, you won't be happy here, but if you like to run and look forward to it everyday, and you manage to do it consistently, then running is the best workout for you at this time. If Curves is a place you want to be, and therefore you workout there 3-4 times a week, then Curves is the best workout for you at this time. Martial arts, yoga, biking, I could go on and on.
The whole point is to get off the sofa/chair and get some physical activity. Nobody has the perfect program except for the one they actually do.
I also have to mention that our very own Laura Cook got her CrossFit level 1 certification this past weekend!! We are very proud of you Laura! And I'm sure you represented us very well, because, well, you're just awesome!
The best workout for you is the one that you will actually do! You could spend years researching journals, books and the internet, picking the brains of all the experts, and devise the "perfect" program. If it's not something you want to do, you won't do it and it will be completely ineffective. It is a very rare person who will stick to a program (or diet for that matter) they don't want to do. These people are some sort of masochistic genetic freaks in my opinion.
Why is CrossFit (or my version of it anyway) the best program for the members here?
Because we are working out with people who become our friends, people we look forward to spending time with. Because there is variety in the programming so it doesn't become boring. Because even if you do an exercise today that you hate...tomorrow you might do one you really like. Because we have fun and don't take ourselves too seriously. What we do isn't for everyone. We work very hard here, and sometimes we're sore, and sometimes we fail, and sometimes we're exhausted, but we always enjoy the company and support of eachother.

Row for the Red Cross
What a great day! Big. big, big thanks to all who showed their support by rowing, donating and showing up to cheer us on! Several people set 5K pr's and many rowed a longer distance than they ever have before. Great showing from JP and the gang at Dansville Fitness Club. You guys are awesome!
We had a skype link up with CrossFit Rochester and it was great to see them rowing away as well! Channel 8 and Fox news showed up there! You can see the spots at 6 and 11 on channel 8 and at 1o on Fox.

Tomorrow is the big day
I'm a little nervous, but I am well prepared. I've eaten well and gotten plenty of water. I have trained well, and I will have my friends there to support me and keep me company. And I have a fresh package of bubble wrap!
Now off to get a good nights sleep!
Thank you to all who have made a donation! And if you haven't, please consider making a small (or large) donation to the Red Cross!

Uh-oh! Rope climbs
Rope climbing isn't all that hard, and once you get the hang of it, it's pretty fun! If you can do a pull up you can climb the rope, but it does take a little bit of practice to nail down the skill.
Don't wait for it to show up in a workout to practice rope climbing! It you finish your warm up a little ahead, grab that rope and practice for a few minutes!

Just one week til "Row for the Red Cross"!

I've backed way off on the meters I am rowing, but the marathon (42K) is going to take me more than halfway to my goal of rowing 1 million meters in 2010!
Several people have committed to rowing 5K or less (or more!) with me on Sunday April 18! Even if you don't want to row you can participate by making a donation in any amount to the Red Cross, either at my personal fundraising page, the Northern Livingston County page or the National page.
I will be starting the row about 9:00 AM and it will take until about 1:00 PM to complete. We will be having a little a bit of a party afterwards so feel free to stop by.
Also our friends at CrossFit Rochester are participating in this challenge, so you can stop by there as well!
Also please note that my Dad!! Was featured on the CrossFit.com Affiliate blog page today!
